Product Information

Violet Eden thought she knew all the secrets ... she was wrong. I now had little doubt. I felt the intensity in that one burst of emotion from him, felt his desperate need to eliminate me. Any small glimmer of hope that might ve been there - that somehow Phoenix would change, would be that guy I first got to know was gone.

On her seventeenth birthday Violet Eden s whole life changed. One minute she was a normal teenager obsessed with her art…and Lincoln. The next she has to get her head around the knowledge that angels do exist, both light and dark and she s not altogether human either. Violet is Grigori part angel and part human. Oh, and Lincoln knew it all along.

Coming to terms with her destiny is tough, but Violet thought she knew all the secrets. She was wrong. The ancient battle between exiled angels and humanity is far from over. And now Violet has to learn to live with her feelings for Lincoln while working with him to stay alive and stop the exiles discovering the key to destroy all Grigori. It isn t easy. Especially when the electricity between her and Phoenix ignites and she discovers his hold over her has become more dangerous than ever.

Searching for the answers she needs will take Violet halfway across the world to the sacred mountains of Jordan, where ancient stories come to life and her warrior spirit will be called upon to make things right … but even then her choices have consequences she never saw coming.

A captivating combination of mythology, romance and a kick-arse heroine make this book impossible to put down. Lose yourself in the Violet Eden Chapters latest book, ENTICED.

Rosie 2011-04-06

Jessica Shirvington has really found her voice in Enticed, book two of the Violet Eden Chronicles. Prepare yourself for a solid plot, some very clever character twists and a deft balance of introspection with action.

Book one, Embrace, indicated the promise of this debut author, but there were definite rough edges .... enough that I was worried about whether Shirvington would build on the promise, or not. I’m completely delighted to say that Enticed delivers – in spades.

Firstly the book has a location this time around. We know that we’re in America with fellow Grigoris from New York joining in the local battles, as well as providing training for Violet. With this we have a cultural and geographic foundation that anchors the story solidly. When the action then moves to Jordan we get a terrific description of the monochromatic sand and glare that brings the taste of dust, sound of winds in the Wadi and smell of spice vibrantly to life.

This is still very much the story of Violet and the challenges she faces as a new, but very powerful Grigori. The darkness tainting her as a result of her relationship with Phoenix gives a delicious edginess to Violet … and makes her character far more compelling than in the past. Lincoln is also a far stronger character and yet still the source of important conflict as he pursues his own investigations with Magda (hmphh, never liked that girl!). The addition of a greater range of peripheral characters adds immensely to the story, giving depth and humour.

There’s still a strong dose of introspection throughout the book, but the escalating danger and action provide a balance and help ramp up the pace.

In all, I am just so very happy that Jessica Shirvington is hitting her stride as a writer and building a trilogy that looks to deliver an interesting new take on angels and guardians, as well as a YA that avoids getting bogged in teenager angst.

The pace is good, the tension ratchets up strongly, the characters are complex and the plot has depth. Really … very very good!
